Fancy Diamonds
Fewer than one natural diamond in ten thousand has enough colour to be graded fancy. The rest of the scale — D to Z — measures how little colour a stone has; fancy grading starts where that scale runs out, and measures how much.
Colour here is graded on hue, tone and saturation rather than the D-to-Z scale, and the steps between Fancy Light, Fancy, Intense and Vivid move price far more than they move appearance.
