Choosing an emerald cut eternity ring

Emerald cut stones are step cut: long, open facets that produce broad flashes of light rather than the scattered sparkle of a brilliant. That openness also shows more of what is inside the stone. Inclusions and body colour are easier to see than in a round, so it is worth choosing a higher clarity and colour grade than you might for a brilliant cut band. Coverage is the next decision. A full eternity band runs stones all the way round and is the most striking, but it is very difficult to resize later. A half eternity keeps the stones where they are seen and leaves plain metal underneath for comfort and future resizing.
