Oval Cut Diamonds
The oval is a modified brilliant that stretches the round's faceting along one axis. The result sparkles like a round, elongates the finger, and looks noticeably larger than a round of the same weight because more of its surface faces upward.
Look closely at the bow-tie — the shadow across the centre that every elongated brilliant carries. A well-cut oval keeps it faint; length-to-width around 1.35 to 1.50 is the usual sweet spot.
