Asscher Natural Diamonds
The asscher is a square step cut with deeply cropped corners and a high crown, creating the concentric “hall of mirrors” effect that made it an Art Deco signature. It was patented in Amsterdam in 1902, all but disappeared after the Second World War, and was revived in 2001.
Like all step cuts it shows clarity plainly, and its near-square outline reads smaller per carat than an elongated shape — both worth factoring into the choice.
