A couple in consultation with a jeweller

The Bespoke Process

From first message to the moment you collect it

Chapter 11 of 15

Two Routes

Already Designed, or Made With You

You can choose an already-designed ring through the website when the design, size and fit are straightforward. Or you can work with us on a bespoke piece when the stone, setting, shape or proportions need more thought.

Both routes are made to order and hand-finished in our London workshop. What follows is what happens on the bespoke route, in order, with honest timings.

Eight Stages

How a Bespoke Ring Is Made

01

Enquiry

Tell us what you are thinking, by email, WhatsApp, phone or in person. Share saved images, photographs of jewellery they already love, sketches, or just a few descriptive words.

Typically same day
02

Consultation

A free 20-minute call or message exchange about budget, stone preferences, setting, metal and timeline. If the project needs deeper design, sizing or stone advice, we arrange a longer consultation with no time limit and no pressure.

From 20 minutes
03

Stone sourcing

We search our network for the exact stone that fits your specification: cut, colour, clarity, carat, certification and ethics. We typically send three to five options with images, video and reports.

3 to 10 working days
04

Design and CAD

Our designers prepare a 3D render so you can see exactly how the ring will look from every angle. Edits are free, and we work through them until the design is right.

5 to 10 working days
05

Casting and setting

Once you approve the design, the ring is cast in your chosen metal, hand-finished by our setters in our London workshop, and the stone is set.

2 to 3 weeks
06

Hallmarking and engraving

Hallmarked where required, engraved if requested, and checked carefully before the final polish.

07

Final inspection

Every ring is inspected against its grading report and photographed. You receive the ring, the report, an insurance valuation and a personalised maintenance schedule.

08

Delivery or handover

By fully insured courier with signature on delivery, beautifully presented. Or, by arrangement, we hand it to you in person.

When to Order

Tell us your date on first contact and we will be honest about what is achievable.

Lead timeHow calm it feelsWhat it allows
At least five weeksIdeal for most ringsRoom for sourcing, sizing, samples and a considered finish
Up to two monthsSensible where possibleComplex designs, shaping, engraving, hallmarking and delivery
Two to three weeksSometimes possibleSimpler designs only, and it should never be the plan

We would far rather make a beautiful simple ring well than rush a complex design badly. If the date is tight we will say which options are realistic.

Which Route

Not Everything Needs to Be Bespoke

Choosing online

Browse the collection, choose design, metal, width, size and finish, and order directly if you are confident in the size and fit. Contact us first if you would like us to check the engagement-ring fit, metal match or proportions before you commit.

Bespoke from scratch

Where nothing standard is quite right: an unusual stone, a shaped band, mixed-metal construction, a heirloom reset, or proportions that need to suit one specific hand.

Somewhere in between

The most common route, in truth. An existing design adjusted: a different width, a lower profile, a substituted stone or a modified setting. Cheaper and faster than full bespoke.

Propose first, design together

If choosing alone is paralysing, propose with a temporary band and design the real ring together afterwards. We do this routinely and credit the placeholder against the final purchase.

What Comes With It

Beyond the Ring Itself

Every ring arrives with its grading report where applicable, an insurance valuation on headed paper, and a personalised maintenance schedule.

Afterwards you have free professional inspection for the life of the ring, and one complimentary resize within the first year on non-gemstone-set rings where the design allows. We are here for the long arc of the ring, not the moment of sale.

No Charge for Getting It Right

Design Iterations Are Free

We create design iterations at no cost, working through the CAD render with you until you are completely happy, before anything is cast. There is no limit and no pressure, and nobody is counting revisions.

The one thing we cannot do is recreate trademarked, copyrighted or signature registered designs. We can absolutely work from reference images to understand the features you love, the profile, the proportions, the way a halo sits, and craft something original from them.

Common Questions

Process Questions We Are Asked Most

How long does a bespoke ring take?

At least five weeks is ideal, and up to two months is sensible for more complex work. Two to three weeks may be possible for simpler designs but it should not be the plan. Tell us your date at first contact and we will be honest about what is achievable.

Do you charge for design changes?

No. We create design iterations for free, working through the CAD render until you are completely happy, before anything is cast.

Can I see the design before it is made?

Yes. Every bespoke ring goes through a 3D CAD render stage so you can see exactly how it will look from every angle. We can also produce a wax model if you would rather handle the design in person before we cast in precious metal.

Can you recreate a ring I have seen elsewhere?

Not if it is a trademarked, copyrighted or signature registered design. We do welcome reference images to understand the features you love, and we use them as inspiration to craft an original ring in your chosen stone, metal and size.

What if they do not like it?

The surest way to avoid it is to propose with a temporary ring and design the real one together. If a finished ring is not loved, we will advise on reselling and help you redesign and remake it at cost price.

Can I cancel or return a made-to-order ring?

Because most of our rings are made to order, bespoke or personalised, cancellation and return rights may be limited once work has begun. Check the website terms before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, by fully insured courier with signature on delivery. There may be additional costs for customs duty, import taxes or handling depending on the country, and we will guide you through the paperwork.
